Why should I forgive my parents?

At times I hate my parents because I felt they did not allow me to live my life. My mom got mad because I (age 21) told her I was going to do what I wanted with my hair and dont cut it. All my life I had to live under strict rules as a teenager until I went to college. I was not allowed to have medium clean cut hair it always had to be crew, I could not date, or go out to the mall even in daylight. I also never got the best clothes styles as other peers. I feel that all of this prevented me from developing as a child to the point where I want to party, have sex, and get tattoos because I was not allowed to do simple things as a kid.

Why should I forgive my parents?

Your life now is the begining of your life later , You are the one in control of the future, your over 18 . Stop blaming the parents . Get on with your life. You want a great life, go out and get it on your own .Then you can be proud and stand straight and tall . Remember this, IF you make the decisions .You have to pay the consequences., And take responsability for your actions.

Why should I forgive my parents?

If it wasn't for your parents you wouldn't have been here so stop complaining. And what do you mean "why should i forgive my parents?" Would it make sense if i said "Why should i forgive god?" No it won't. You're question is similar to that. Love your parents more than you love god.

Why should I forgive my parents?

First, get a job, move out of your parents house, fund your own fun/life and quit bitchin. Support yourself, become an adult, pay your bills, quit looking for support (fiscal, physical or emotional) and GROW UP. After that, your parent can either accept your changes or not. That then becomes their choice.

Why should I forgive my parents?

you posted this question a few minutes ago. Whats wrong you didn't like your response? Maybe post this in the mental health category . You may get a little sympathy. Is that what your looking for?

Why should I forgive my parents?

You're an adult now. You have the right to do whatever you want with your life.

However, you are an adult now. You, and you alone, are responsible for your life and what becomes of it. You are conscious of your decisions and of the possible consequences - so you cannot fairly blame anyone else for what you do.

So what if you had a strict upbringing? Your parents made the choices they thought were best. If they were wrong, well, they were wrong and you can recognize that. But it doesn't give you the right to blame them for everything you do for the rest of your life. YOU are in charge now, so act like it. If you wanna get a tattoo or get drunk or grow your hair out, then do it - but realize that it is YOUR decision and should be made because YOU want it - not because of what anyone else may or may not want.

So yeah, forgive them - maybe they were wrong, but your children will probably feel the same about you someday. They didn't abuse you - they just made mistakes. You need to be adult enough to forgive them and take charges of your own decisions and mistakes.

Why should I forgive my parents?

i know what that's like.i mean they restrict so much it feels like they don't trust you right?

they don't see the downside to being so strict.they don't see that they are making us want what we can't have just b/c they said no.

don't go crazy with your freedom, just be reasonable.

but yeah i know what that's like so hang in there!!!
