Anyone with STYLE? Save me from the college frump look???

I'm a junior at a UC, and I need style help! I don't have the time or money to make fashion a life priority, but I DO want to look appealing (to guys... straight guys).

How can I look friendly, smart, feminine, sophisticated, etc. without doing the high-maintenance Barbie look?

(Right now I'm workin' the typical sweatshirt, jeans, and ballet flats thing. And usually moderate makeup. Oh and I'm a medium build with shoulder length straight brunette hair.) Thanks for your help! ^.^

A pair of skinny jeans...maybe a pair of knee-high boots (flats or slight heel) ...and some cute plain tshirts are a great place to start. Also, accessories! Those can really dress up an outfit. From there you just start adding to your wardrobe whenever you get extra cash!

You could try finding some sweaters too that can go over those tshirts and make a different look.

I added some links below of examples :) I picked urban behavior for all the examples because they are cheap and cute! Check out Heritage also...http://www.forever21.com/heritage1981/de...

As for shoes, I love Aldo and shoes at Nordstrom. Those can be a bit pricey though. I found some online that are cute and cheap.

first off, get yourself a few basics:

skinny jeans

a couple of plain, subtle colored singlet tops

black leggings [if you aren't too proud of your legs]

a plain summer dress

then, start collecting odd pieces of clothing you like. eg. maybe you like mischa barton's style.

just a suggestion, if you don't want to put alot of money or effort into it, try getting a few pieces of clothing from op shops or salvos [im not sure what they're called in the US].

btw, chunky/funky jewellery %26amp; accessories can do alot for an otherwise boring outfit.

It doesn't cost a lot to be attractive. Just know your strength and weaknesses of your figures and dress according to it to bring out the best of you. Most importantly, u must dress to be yourself, not following the trend blindly. I would suggest u to try out skirts/dress and match your outfits with accessories to brighten up your plain style T-shirt. Wearing high heels (2" will do) would enhance the shape and look of your legs too. You may wish to take a look at www.madesca.blogspot.com to check out some nice fashion accessories at an affordable price. All the best!
